The PONY Flair Story
Coloured with a natural lacquer infused with vegetable dyes, by highly skilled craftsmen, the range of Pony Flair Knitting Pins is truly unique. The ancient art by which they are made, traces its origins to ancient Persia, from where artisans were invited to india to make their exclusive products for the local population. The craft set down its roots in India where it flourished for many years. In more recent times this very special and rare artistic technique started dying out. Today the traditional craft, in its original form, exists in one tiny part of India, where a few craftsmen continue to hand the craft down form generation to generation
The production of Pony Flair Knitting needles is now adding valuable income to this smal community of traditional craftsmen who apply the colour, on these beautiful pins, using the very same ancient methods that came from Persia by which the pigmented lacquer is applied to the product by hand, using special flexible leaf fibers. Artisans require years of training to develop this exquisite skill.
